Palak Story

After returning from Ahmedabad to Navsari in 1998, Palak joined Bai Navajbai Tata Girls’ high school which is a normal school. She was accepted very well by everyone in the school. The most important thing is, everyone at school, be it teachers or students or staff members, treated her like a normal student which is very important. Inclusion is a key factor for kids with Down syndrome. She was very well behaved and respected her teachers as well as staff members at school. She was very regular in doing her homework and completed all her lessons before time. Palak is very particular with her daily routine and is very punctual. She successfully completed 12th standard in Arts with 49%. In her school Palak took part in various school activities, like annual functions, dance, fancy dress and gave numerous speeches in her school.

She was very dear to not only her classmates, but the entire school, including all her teachers! Everyone at school used to wait for her to come. Daily, after the school was over, she used to be the last one to come out of the school gate because she wished goodbye not only to all her classmates and other friends, but also to all the teachers and staff members. After she completed her 12th standard in Arts, during the farewell function, all her classmates, all her teachers, all the staff members and everyone else in the school got very emotional and her principal even said that what are they going to do without Palak. Such is her presence, and such is her warm and kind nature.
